Learn the foundations of pottery through both handbuilding and wheel throwing in a relaxed, small-group environment. Ideal for beginners looking to build confidence and develop core skills.

 

Class Overview

Week 1: Introduction to the wheel - centering and throwing bowls
Week 2: Cylinders and cups - developing control and form
Week 3: Trimming and continued wheel throwing
Week 4: Handbuilding fundamentals
Week 5: Glazing and refining work in progress
Week 6: Continued wheel throwing and skill development
Week 7: Handbuilding and surface decoration
Week 8: Final glazing and finishing

 

Weekly activities may shift slightly based on drying times and individual progress.


Clay is not included and may be purchased at the studio for $37.80 + GST per bag.

  • Cancellation, Missed Class & Refund Policy

    To ensure fair scheduling and to allow us to prepare materials and staffing in advance, the following cancellation and refund policy applies to all bookings:

    Multi-Week Classes

    Registration for multi-week classes is for the full session and cannot be refunded once the class has begun.

    • 10+ days before the first class: Full refund minus a $25 administrative fee

    • 5–9 days before the first class: 50% refund

    • Less than 5 days before the first class: No refund

    Missed classes cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
    Participants who miss a class will be provided with access to scheduled studio time for uninstructed practice. Details will be provided by your instructor at the start of the session.

    Additional Notes

    • Refunds are issued to the original form of payment.

    • Mira Pottery Studio reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class or event due to low enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, a full refund will be provided.
